A Fun Fall in Jumpstart

We have spent the last couple months working on colors, singing the ABC's, and learning Days 1-3 of Creation. Everyone is doing a great job learning and playing with their friends. Some of our favorite things to do is play with playdoh, sing the Bear Hunt song, play Snap and Style dolls, paint, and go outside for recess.

We enjoyed learning about everything to do with autumn.  We learned about corn that come from the fields and pumpkins and how they grow.

Our Halloween parties were a lot of fun.  We had a lot of different costumes including animals, bugs, superheros, and princesses. We were so happy our moms and grandmas came to our party to have fun with us.

Rectangles, Animals, and Almost Spring!

This month we learned about the rectangle and the diamond.  We made a kite and learned that two triangles make a diamond shape. We had fun digging for diamonds with a spoon in a big bowl of dried beans.  We also learned about the rectangle and that a rectangle has two short sides and two long sides.  We made a leprechaun hat for St. Patrick's Day with many rectangles that were different colors and sizes.

We played with animals this month because God made animals and people on Day 5.  We made animal footprints in green playdoh, and we played with animals in our cornmeal sensory table.  Everyone loved making animal sounds while they played.

We worked on our fine motor skills this month by stringing fruit loops on a piece of yarn to make a rainbow necklace.  We also used scissors and practiced snipping paper.  We worked on keeping our thumbs on top and squeezing the scissors closed.

Everyone is doing an excellent job at recognizing their names and the first letter of their names.  We have been working hard at finding our names on our name tags and pointing at the first letter of our name on the alphabet during circle time.

Everyone is super excited that spring is near.  We check out the weather everyday by looking out the window during circle time to see what the weather is up to.  We are looking forward to playing outside soon.  As always, thank you for sharing your child with us! We enjoy every moment with them!

A Lot of Love in Jumpstart

The past couple of weeks we have been learning all about the heart shape and what it means.  We have painted hearts, used heart stickers, and played with heart cookie cutters with playdoh. We learned that the heart shape means love and that Jesus loves us.

We had our Valentine Party this past week.  Everyone enjoyed their Moms and Dads joining us for our party. We had a special valentine snack of cookies and pink icing and sprinkles.  We also made a heart ladybug and played a conversation heart counting game.  Everyone loved passing out their valentines to their friends.  Mrs. Julie, Mrs. Jill, and I were so proud at how well everyone sat and waiting for their turn.

Thank you to all the parents who donated and helped at the Valentine Party!

New Year & Three New Friends

The new year has brought many frigid days, but we have still been busy in Jumpstart.  The past couple of weeks we have worked on the color white, the circle, the triangle, and the 4th day God created.  We have also welcomed three new friends, Kelsie, Jude, and Brooklyn, to our class.

For our crafts, we made a white polar bear, a potato stamped snowman, and a triangular lion's face.

We worked on scissor cutting straws.  Everyone loved how the straw pieces went flying when they cut them.

We also played in ice and matched shapes with our cookie matching game.

A Jumpstart Christmas

Christmas time was a fun time in Jumpstart.  We worked on learning the colors green and brown, learning all about the birth of baby Jesus, and practicing our songs for the annual HFYH Christmas program.

We made hand print Christmas trees and glued on jewels for ornaments.  We worked on our fine motor skills by decorating our very own Christmas tree with ornaments and tinsel.  We also played with our Christmas theme sensory table and felt board. We started working on recognizing our names, so we made Christmas lights with each letter.

We learned about baby Jesus. We read stories and sang songs about his birth, and we used stickers to learn about where Jesus was born and who was there to welcome him to our world.
